What is learning in Elementary

Learning in our Elementary program is a vibrant and holistic experience designed to cultivate curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for exploration. Rooted in the principles of individualized and student-driven education, our Elementary curriculum is a dynamic blend of core subjects and hands-on projects. Learners are encouraged to explore their unique interests, fostering a sense of ownership in their educational journey. Our dedicated guides nurture a supportive learning environment, where collaboration and communication are valued. Through engaging activities, interactive lessons, and real-world applications, students not only acquire foundational academic knowledge but also develop essential life skills. The Elementary program is a place where curiosity is celebrated, questions are embraced, and the joy of discovery is at the heart of each learning adventure.

Features

We emphasize hands-on, project-based learning which allows students to tackle real-world challenges collaboratively and develop critical thinking skills. Driven by their curiosity and delight in discovery, learners will do four deep dives a year into multidisciplinary subjects and then have the chance to share their work with a broad audience among the community. Sharing their work publicly adds a layer of excitement, accountability and responsibility.

Project-Based Learning

Our curriculum prioritizes a strong connection to nature through activities like hikes and environmental education, fostering environmental stewardship and a lasting appreciation for the natural world.

In addition to the outdoors, we look outside of our individual classrooms to forge meaningful connections among students. The school promotes cross-studio connections through initiatives like the Reading Buddy Program, pairing students of different ages for shared reading experiences, enhancing literacy skills, and fostering a supportive learning community.
